appreciation & drive
9 03 2009I love this weather. Saturday was especially good.
After a beautiful, long bike ride I found myself sitting in nice 3-4ft surf – all alone right at the end of my street. I couldn’t help but think about how good my life is. It was one of those days.
As I sat there, an amazing thought gracefully invaded my mind. “There are people dying all around the world due to hunger, disease and violence. How rare is it that people find the kind of peace I experience regularly and take for granted”.
Why me? It’s the obvious question. Many feel a sense of guilt at this point – not me. I enjoyed a few more waves. Why me though? I can’t help but wrestle with this perspective and let it drive me.
God has given me so much. But is it for my pleasure alone or are my days, my life, to be used to make a difference? He is giving me energy, passion and life as fuel for purpose.
Just a thought…

Mission update
2 02 2009I’m excited to announce the dates for the Haiti trip… July 19-31. This will be an exciting expansion for our global mission work.
Check out this video that documents a successful mission to Costa. http://beachsidemissiontrip.wordpress.com/global-missions/
We are getting close to announcing the details for two local efforts. This is going to be ultra cool. I’m excited to see more and more people giving themselves away.
The secular world doesn’t care what you believe. Instead they are ready to see what you do. (Do we act like we believe what we say we believe?)

I’m excited that preparations are in order for a trip to Haiti. The dates are not firm yet. But if you are interested please let us know asap. Email the office and fill out an application. Be sure to check out the Haiti mission web site. www.nwhcm.org

Local Mission
23 01 2009The Costa Rica team is back – mission accomplished. They were able to put a new roof on the school in Domincal and much more. We are excited about the full impact of this effort both in Costa Rica and in Ormond Beach. Are we done now?
My hope is that mission describes who we are more than what we do. So there is always more…
I don’t have much detail yet but the next two trips to Costa are already scheduled June 14-21 and June 28- July 5. Get your applications at the information desk this weekend. And there is more.
The mission team met about an upcoming local project and they would like your help.
We want to put together some projects helping people in our community. But we need to identify a few local projects. The priority will be given to people who attend our church or are associated with our people but we are very open to helping anyone. The priority will be given to projects that require a team to help rather than just writing a check to fill a need. Ideally I’d love to see each project require 10 or more people.
Do you know of anyone who may benefit from an effort like this?
The main purpose is to continue to mobilize our church to live mission.
